Infrared Saunas for Sale in Ireland

How does an infrared sauna work?

An infrared sauna uses heating panels that warm your body directly instead of heating all the air around you. The cabin sits at around 45–60°C, compared with 70–90°C in a traditional sauna, so it feels gentler and easier to breathe, but you still sweat well. That lower temperature is also why infrared saunas heat up in 10–15 minutes and cost so little to run.

Where can you put a home sauna?

Most one and two person infrared saunas fit through a standard door in flat-pack panels and go together in an hour or two. A spare room, home gym, garage or garden room all work. You need a level floor, a little space around the cabin and a nearby socket. Larger and hybrid saunas need their own circuit put in by a registered electrician.

Infrared sauna running costs

A typical two person infrared sauna draws about 1.6–2.2 kW. Used for 45 minutes, that costs well under €1 a session at Irish electricity prices, which makes it the cheapest sauna to run.

Infrared sauna, portable sauna or sauna blanket?

Portable saunas and sauna blankets cost a few hundred euro and pack away, but they only cover part of the body and don’t feel like sitting in a sauna. A cabin infrared sauna gives you a proper room to sit in, lasts for years and adds something to the house. If you have the space, a cabin is the better buy.

Infrared or traditional sauna?

If you want real heat, steam and the ritual of throwing water on the stones, choose a traditional barrel sauna outside. If you want something indoors, cheap to run and easy to use most days, choose infrared.
